LENCOE is a software engineering firm based in Cape Town. We build custom systems for companies that have outgrown what they started on, and we make NyViA, a support and sales product used by businesses that cannot staff a desk around the clock.

Why we exist

Good businesses held back by bad software.

We kept meeting the same company. Solid business, capable people, and a set of systems that made every day harder than it needed to be. A finance team rekeying the same numbers into two packages. A warehouse working off a printed list because the stock system was wrong by lunchtime.

Every one of them had been sold software. Usually several times. What they had not been given was something that matched how their business actually worked, and none of them owned what they had paid for.

That is the gap we work in. Not the cheapest option, and not the biggest agency. The one that builds the thing properly, explains it in language you can act on, and hands it over so it is genuinely yours.

What we believe

You should own what you pay for. Code, data, documentation, all of it.
A fixed price is a form of respect. Open-ended billing moves the risk onto you.
Plain language is not dumbing down. If we cannot explain it simply, we do not understand it well enough.
Boring technology wins. Proven tools you can hire for beat clever ones you cannot.
Saying no is part of the job. Some projects should not be built, and we will say so.

What we do

Two things, and one of them pays for the research on the other.

Most of our work is custom software and NyViA. A smaller part of the business builds trading software, which is where our work on speed and reliability gets tested hardest.

A subscriber terminal with two engines running on live markets. Software that handles money in real time is unforgiving, and building it keeps our standards where they need to be.

How we are set up

Small on purpose.

We are not trying to become a two hundred person agency. There is a reason for that, and it affects what you get.

You talk to the builders

No account manager in between. The architect who scopes your project is the one who oversees it being built, and you have their number.

We take on fewer projects

Enough work to do it well, not enough to be spread thin. If we are full, we will tell you when we can start rather than take your deposit and queue you.

Decisions happen quickly

A question that would sit in an approval chain for a week at a large firm gets answered here the same day, usually within the hour.

Where we are and how we work with you.

We are based in Cape Town and we work with clients across South Africa and in seven other countries. Most projects run remotely with regular video calls. For larger builds we will come to you at the start, because watching the work happen in person tells us things a call never will.
